Three Guys, One Setlist
The Stragglers are a three-piece band built around strong vocals and a setlist that refuses to sit still. Guitar, bass and drums, three voices, and a night that moves from the classics into pop country and out through classic rock.

What We Play
We don’t do one genre. The set is built to carry a room from the first song to the last, so there’s something in it for the folks who came for the old classics, the ones who want pop country, and the ones who came to hear classic rock turned up.
That range means we fit a lot of different rooms — from a packed bar on a Saturday to an outdoor party where the crowd changes all night.

Michael saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show — and well, he had to get a guitar.
He mowed yards for a long time to get that first guitar and learned to play from a Mel Bay book. Playing in bands in high school, then on to the military, and after that travelling the US with the Two For the Show Trio, a great little comedy troupe. Lots of fun — and yeah, they even won the Gong Show.
After leaving the road he hooked up with a band called Quick Change, a great group of guys he played with for 26 years, playing hundreds of clubs, county and state fairs in three states, and opening for dozens of major artists. During the ’80s he had some success on the country charts with a self-penned song, “Solitary Lover”. He played with a couple of three-piece bands and started doing solos.
He then moved to Florida in February 2024 and began playing solo jobs around the area. After meeting Jerry and Bobby — as Bobby said, “We were thrown together for a quick replacement job.” “It’s been great fun playing with these two guys, both having a professional attitude, easy going and just damn fun to play music with and to call my friends. Thanks fellas.”
Bobby Toon
Bobby started his music career at church with his extended family. Learning to read music and play various horns, he was influenced vocally by his aunt, who showed him how to control his voice. He started playing guitar at a young age.
In his first successful band he was the lead vocalist and toured the Midwest opening for some major acts. Through his musical career he played the Holiday Inn circuit for eight years, and played bass guitar in house bands around Indianapolis for ten years. He then formed Band X, which ran for ten years, before moving full time to Spring Hill, Florida, where he started playing solo shows on guitar.
He was then asked to join Suncoast Blvd Band on guitar and lead vocals, with Jerry on the drums. After hearing Michael play and sing at a birthday party, he asked to be hooked up to play music with him. Jerry and Bobby were fresh out of Suncoast Blvd. With Michael, they were thrown together to cover a show and decided this could work out. They jokingly called themselves The Stragglers, and it stuck.
The band is now acquiring a following around Citrus, Hernando, Pasco and Sumter Counties. Bobby still does solo gigs on guitar and plays bass with The Stragglers. “I feel blessed to be where I am, playing music with two great players I call my friends.”
Jerry Woodring
Jerry started playing when his best friend encouraged him to play drums and sing.
He began playing the typical junior high and high school gigs, later moving into the busy bar scene. He joined the Musicians Union and branched out with whom he played. He has recorded in Toronto and Buffalo, and always enjoyed various styles of music, often thinking there’s something to learn from different styles — and made a lot of friends along the way in each band. He was blessed to have played with a lot of top notch musicians from the area.
He moved to Florida nine years ago and hooked up with a few bands that led him to being with The Stragglers (Bobby Toon, Michael Coultas). “I feel this is the perfect band for myself right now, they are great musicians and friends. I am enjoying every minute.”
